ONLINE PRIVATE DUDUK LESSONS
Looking for Private Duduk Online Lessons?
Global Duduk Academy offers a structured and more affordable alternative to regular private lessons. Through Full Membership, students follow a step-by-step video curriculum at their own pace, with personal guidance from duduk teacher Canberk Ulaş, regular personal feedback on their playing, monthly live group sessions, direct teacher messaging, and an international community.
Rather than paying for the teacher’s time in individual appointments, members access a complete learning environment through a monthly subscription.
A Clear Path for Beginners and Experienced Players
Beginners start with Phase 1 and build their foundations step by step.
Those who already play also begin with Phase 1, revisiting their technique, identifying habits that may be limiting their progress, and developing greater control over tone and intonation.

Lesson Duration
Each private lesson lasts 30 minutes.
-
Thirty minutes is considered the most effective lesson length for learning the duduk.
This duration is based on years of teaching experience. While longer lessons may appear to offer more value, they often encourage teachers to introduce more information than students can realistically absorb. Every student has a natural learning capacity, and learning becomes less effective when that limit is exceeded.
Instead of trying to cover as much material as possible, each lesson focuses on the most important step for the student's current level. This creates clear practice goals, reduces confusion and leads to more effective learning.
-
Every lesson is tailored to the student's level, goals and musical development.
For complete beginners, lessons focus on building a solid technical foundation from the very beginning.
For more experienced players, lessons begin by observing the student's playing. Areas that need improvement are identified and prioritised, with guidance tailored to the student's goals and learning pace.
Lessons may focus on embouchure, reed control, breath support, intonation, tone production, repertoire, musical interpretation, improvisation, performance preparation, reed adjustment or any other aspect of duduk playing.
Each lesson concludes with clear practice goals and exercises to guide your independent practice.
-
Learning through private lessons only
If private lessons are your primary way of learning, one lesson per week is generally recommended.
Learning through Global Duduk Academy
If you are following the Academy curriculum, regular private lessons are not required. You can book a session whenever you would benefit from working live, one-to-one with Canberk. For example, to explore a specific difficulty in detail, try adjustments together and receive immediate guidance.
For Full Members, these sessions are optional and complement the personal feedback already included in their membership.
-
Clarity and direction.
A lesson can completely change the understanding of how the duduk works. Technical habits that have limited progress for months or even years often become immediately visible, giving students a much clearer direction for practice.
Long-term improvement, however, requires patience. Playing the notes of a melody is only one part of learning the duduk. The real challenge is developing a beautiful tone, stable intonation and musical expression that can genuinely move the listener.
Private lessons provide the guidance. Consistent practice creates the transformation.
-
Every technique is taught with intention and a clear purpose.
The teaching approach is rooted in traditional Armenian duduk technique and shaped by years of personal experimentation with different techniques and playing approaches. Every technical choice has been carefully evaluated through practical experience and is used because it has proven to be effective.
Questions are always welcome. Every technique taught has a reason behind it, and students who are curious about the purpose of a particular exercise or approach are encouraged to ask.
-
To make the lesson as effective as possible, please:
Position your camera approximately at eye level so your posture and embouchure are clearly visible.
Make sure the room is well lit.
Join the lesson from a quiet space without interruptions.
Please ask for permission before recording the lesson.
-
Lessons may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled starting time. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson are non-refundable.
Teaching Philosophy
Canberk teaches the Armenian duduk tradition that has been passed down through his former teacher Suren Asaduryan. His musical approach has also been deeply influenced by the playing of legendary Armenian duduk masters including Vache Hovsepyan and Djivan Gasparyan.
While his artistic work today also explores improvisation, electronics and contemporary music, his teaching remains firmly rooted in traditional Armenian duduk technique. Students first develop a solid technical foundation before expanding towards their own musical expression.
Rather than rushing into melodies and sheet music, lessons focus on what truly defines the duduk: sound. Breath control, embouchure, intonation, tuning, phrasing and tone production form the core of Canberk's teaching. Once the instrument begins to respond naturally, learning repertoire becomes both easier and more meaningful.
